About Us

I have always had a love of sewing, and made all of my own clothes since the age of 11.  I am fortunate to have a mother and grandmother who instilled in me the love of sewing.  I learned to handsmock from a local lady in 1984, when I was expecting my second child.  Once our little girl was born, I invested in a 16 row Read pleater, which I still use today.

My daughters have long outgrown the hand smocked dresses that I loved making for them; my toddler niece is my new "model".  In July 2006, my 15-year-old daughter was going through chemotherapy for Osteosarcoma, and I always had a smocking project with me during our frequent hospitalizations.  I started getting requests for garments from people who saw my work, and Kelly's oncologist encouraged me to start a business.  After much thought, I decided to go for it, and started the business called "Tiny Stitches".  The name was chosen for my love of infant clothing and the delicate needlework that goes into creating them.

In addition to handsmocked dresses and christening gowns, I also create playwear and casual clothing for boys and girls, as well as baby gift items.  I carry a generous selection of fabrics, trims and patterns for those who enjoy creating their own garments.
